The importance of the project lies in the ambition to provide theoretical and empirical solutions to current societal problems and global challenges caused by a lack of multicultural integration in the workplace in the wake of international migration. The overall aim is a deeper understanding of cultural integration of highly skilled migrants in Swedish multinational companies from both an individual and an organizational perspective.
The aim is not primarily to problematize migration and integration. Instead, the project assumes that highly qualified migrants have much to offer companies and societies, and therefore focuses on - from the migrants' point of view - identifying, describing and analyzing ways to exploit the potential for business and social development that this migration can entail. Historical facts indicate that some countries, such as Sweden, have been very good at extracting the knowledge and ideas of these migrants, which has benefited individuals, organizations and society.
