Making the dreams of seriously ill children come true

Children's imaginations don't work less well because their bodies do. That sums up the guiding principle of the MinStoraDags Foundation. The foundation helps seriously ill children in Sweden to realize their dreams. These children don't care about research and progress, about money and new treatments. Their thoughts revolve around play and living as normal a life as possible. They may dream of driving a racing car, meeting their idol, traveling, having a 'princess room' or driving a digger. The wish may be big or small, but the happiness they feel when their dream is fulfilled is the same. The Foundation works with all university hospitals and many pediatric and adolescent clinics in Sweden. The selection is not made by the Foundation, but by the treating physicians and healthcare professionals, and all applications are treated individually. Hundreds of Big Days are organized every year. In addition, the MyBigDay Foundation organizes group activities such as concert visits, hospital cafés and camps. In 2012, 245 individual Big Days, 285 group activities and 5 camps were organized. The Foundation's dream is to eventually be able to give all sick children a much-needed break from their sick lives.
