Aeroseum launched a school project in 2010 with the goal of opening the aviation experience center/museum for educational purposes to students from preschool through college. The aim was to increase interest, motivation to learn, and understanding in STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In the future, our subjects will cover everything from our cultural heritage to various subject areas in accordance with the new curriculum. A large part of the instruction is based on hands-on learning, which is why we are setting up various stations and environments in an interdisciplinary manner. The goal is to be able to accommodate nearly 500 school classes per year.
The original project has now evolved into Aeroseum becoming a Science Center. The reason for this is that it is now a requirement from the authorities to be granted public funding for school activities in the future. This places new demands on our school activities. Today, more interactive workstations are required, as well as the use of even more database-driven information, etc. All of this places new demands on our data network, which is undersized and must be upgraded to handle the approximately 60 Science Center stations that are needed. Currently, 6 stations are operational, and several are under construction. The Torsten Söderberg Foundation funded 4 of these in 2014. This project is a continuation of our most recent application and will continue until Aeroseum is approved by the authorities so that financial support can be obtained.
