Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize 2008 to Icelandic fashion designer Steinunn Sigurðardóttir

The Röhsska Museum's Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize Committee, with funding from the Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg Foundations, has decided to award the 2008 prize of one million Swedish kronor to Icelandic fashion designer Steinunn Sigurðardóttir.

The award committee's motivation

After working for several well-known fashion houses, Steinunn Sigurðardóttir has been running her own business from Reykjavik since 2000 with great international success. Her designs show a solid experience with a high fashion degree and a refined sense of quality. The collections also testify to a high level of tailoring skills and knowledge of materials. Inspired by Icelandic nature, Steinunn Sigurðardóttir has given the Nordic countries an impressive representative on the international fashion scene.

The prize was awarded at a ceremony at the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg on November 4. The exhibition by and with Steinunn Sigurðardóttir was shown at the Röhsska Museum between November 5, 2008 and February 22, 2009.
