The 2011 Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize was awarded to Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov

The Röhsska Museum’s selection committee for the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, funded by the Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg Foundations, awarded this year’s prize of one million kronor to Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov.

The award committee's motivation

“Danish designer Henrik Vibskov is the 2011 recipient of the Torsten & Wanja Söderberg Prize. He has long created functional fashion designs for a young, discerning audience and developed designs for industrial production aimed at the international market. Through his fashion shows and independent projects, Henrik Vibskov is a significant avant-garde figure in the fashion industry. Incorporating elements such as music, installations, and performance, he creates with great artistic confidence.”

Vibskov is primarily a menswear designer, but also produces innovative women's fashion and collections of practical and fashionable accessories, and is a frequent lecturer and jury member at several institutions in Europe."

The prize was awarded at a ceremony in Gothenburg on November 4, 2011. A selection of Henrik Vibskov's works was shown in a separate exhibition at the Röhsska Museum from November 5, 2011 to February 2012.
