Margrethe Odgaard uses textiles as a starting point in her design. Her approach is at once artisanal, tactile and elaborate - she thinks with her hands. Using both poetic and consistent color and pattern studies, she creates context in a fascinating process that is full of musicality. Her artistic vision is driven by the desire to create and enrich in a way where knowledge, ideas and skills are incessantly and generously shared.
Her focus as a textile designer is color, pattern and tactility. Her constant search for new ways to explore color and pattern in the material.
In addition to running her own studio, Margrethe Odgaard is part of the design duo Included Middle together with furniture designer Chris L. Halstrøm. They design furniture based on two simple questions: "What if color or pattern is seen as something that suggests a shape?" and "What if the shape is seen as indicative of a pattern?".
The prize was awarded at a ceremony on November 4, 2016. From November 5, 2016, the Röhsska Museum presented an exhibition of this year's winners.
