Tomas Söderberg was one of three sons of the donors and founders of the Foundation, Torsten and Wanja Söderberg, and Chairman of the Foundation since 1987. Tomas Söderberg was a highly appreciated Chairman and under his committed and dedicated leadership, the Foundation has successfully developed and operated well within its purpose by contributing to Swedish research and teaching activities.

During his term as President, Mr. Söderberg received several honors. He received an honorary doctorate of philosophy from the University of Gothenburg in 2006. He has also been awarded the City of Gothenburg's Merit Badge, the Gothenburg School of Economics' Pro Studio et Scientia medal - for commitment and science, the Stockholm School of Economics' SIR Research Award and the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Falcon of Iceland. As recently as the fall of 2018, Tomas Söderberg was appointed an honorary member of the Swedish Medical Society.
