H.M. The King is honored - new chair in young leadership at the Stockholm School of Economics.

To mark the celebration of King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 50th anniversary on the throne, a new professorship focusing on young leadership is being established at the Stockholm School of Economics. The Torsten Söderberg Foundation, together with the Ragnar Söderberg Foundation and PO Söderberg, has made a donation to fund the professorship. Other donors include Carl Bennet AB, the Erling-Persson Foundation, the Schörling Family Foundation, Stena AB, and the Wallenberg Foundations.

The total donation to the Chair in Young Leadership at the Stockholm School of Economics amounts to SEK 60 million.

King Carl XVI Gustaf himself wanted the gifts from the celebrations to be used to promote young leadership.

“The King has long emphasized the importance and power of young leadership. We eagerly look forward to seeing what this new joint initiative to establish a professorship at the School of Business will bring. Hopefully, the professorship will deepen our understanding of what influences young leaders’ values and behaviors, and the resulting effects—not only for the young individuals themselves, but also for the organizations and society in which they operate,” says Maria Söderberg, Chair of the Torsten Söderberg Foundation.

In connection with the celebrations, a fundraising campaign was also organized among the business community and the general public for the King’s Foundation for Young Leadership, raising 30 million kronor. The Torsten Söderberg Foundation has contributed to this cause on previous commemorative occasions and has participated in their rewarding practical work with young leaders.
