Today there is a lack of books for children about Swedish architecture. I am an architect SAR/MSA and I have written the manuscript for a book on this subject. The main purpose of the book is to spread knowledge - to give children knowledge about Swedish architecture and Swedish architectural history in a fun and interesting way. The main part of the book consists of stories about a number of houses, because I think it is easier and more fun for children to read about specific houses than to read general sections about architecture. The book ends with a summary fact section. I have written the book mainly for children in the 9-12 age group, but my ambition is that younger children will also enjoy it. This is reinforced by the book's educational and playful illustrations and layout (see appendix). At the same time, the book should also be interesting and fun for adults reading with children. A book about Swedish architecture should also be useful in schools. Architecture is included in the primary school curriculum for both history and art, but teachers currently have no literature on Swedish architecture to use in their teaching, with the exception of some teacher's guides. The book will be published by DIBB förlag, based in Linköping. High-quality illustrations, photos and design are obviously an important part of a book on architecture. We will use a professional illustrator/designer, this project intends to make it possible to hire her and a professional photographer.
