Conditions of grant

The following grant conditions are general and apply to grants awarded in medicine, economics, law and other fields. For specific conditions, please refer to the grant's decision letter and appendix.

The grant awarded may only be used within the framework of the research project, in accordance with the application and decision. The Foundation must always be contacted if the conditions for the implementation of the research project change. The project manager/principal applicant is responsible for ensuring that the research is conducted in accordance with Swedish legislation and in accordance with good research practice.

Decision

Decision letters with specific grant conditions must be signed by the recipient and returned to the Foundation in original. Keep a copy of the letter for your own records. Read the decision letter carefully as the Foundation may have granted parts of the application.

The main applicant, who is also the project leader, is obliged to inform any other participants in the project of the decision and the conditions so that they are all aware of them.

Grant period

The availability period for the grant awarded is the period specified in the decision letter, with a start date according to the application. If not specified, the period indicated in the application applies.

Request for payment

Grants are usually paid annually, as needed, and as specified in the decision letter. A signed requisition is sent by post and must include:

  • grant case number and project title
  • what the requisition is for (amount, year, etc.)
  • account number, payee and contact details.

Changed conditions/deviations

The Foundation must always be contacted in the event of a change in the conditions for the project, and thus a request for, for example, postponement and deferral of the requisition of funds. This may be, for example, a change in the research percentage, postponed leave from a regular position, change of grant administrator, parental leave or illness. Normally, an approved grant may be deferred for a maximum total of 18 months. Decisions on deferral are taken by the Foundation after contact with the project manager/main applicant. If funding is received from another funding body for the same or related research project, the Foundation must be informed without delay.

The Foundation should be mentioned

The project leader/principal applicant is responsible for ensuring that the Foundation is mentioned in all reporting and presentation of the research. This may be on websites and in written and oral lecture material. In publications, the Foundation must be mentioned, for example, in the foreword, on the title page or in the colophon. For other types of grants, a plaque, sign or similar may be required to make the grant visible.

Repayment of funds

Any funds not used in accordance with the agreed purpose during the grant period or at its end shall be returned to the Foundation. Funds already paid out must be repaid. Contact the Foundation for information and documentation. Administration and premises costs not claimed within three months of the year to which they relate will be returned to the Foundation.

If the terms of the grant are not respected

Grants may be recovered and/or suspended if the purposes for which they were awarded are not complied with. This may be the case, for example, in the event of unethical procedures in the research, failure to report on the research, failure to notify changes in conditions, dishonest use of funds or use of funds for other purposes.
